Important note regarding decontamination of equipment.
Any item you intend sending to us must have been thoroughly decontaminated. If items are recieved contaminated with blood or other biological or hazardous substances then we reserve the right to return them to you unrepaired.

Waste Gas Monitoring

It is essential that practices routinely carry out some form of monitoring of anaesthetic gas levels in operating areas to validate the scavenging system in use.

We offer a monitoring service with a portable ambient air analyser using a single beam infra-red photospectrometer. This method gives a high degree of accuracy and immediate results, and can be used to diagnostically pin point sources of excessive exposure such as from leaks on your anaesthetic apparatus. We provide a certificate stating the levels detected for each agent that you use. We test for N2O, Halothane and Isoflurane all within the one price.

If you would like to book an engineer to visit and carry out waste gas monitoring, please contact our service department who will be pleased to assist you. Please note late cancellation of a booking within 24hrs of the arranged date will be charged at full price.

Portable Appliance Testing

Why test?
A quarter of all serious electrical accidents involve portable electrical appliances. There is a requirement for an employer to take adequate steps to protect users of those appliances from both electrical shock and fire hazards.

To meet the requirements of the "Electricity at work regulations 1989 " it is necessary to implement a programme of planned inspection and testing of these appliances.

What needs testing?
Basically every electrical item, both 240 volt and 110 volt, that plug into a wall socket. It includes power tools, extension leads, electric kettles, patient monitors, hair clippers, electric lift tables, computers - the list is endless.

How often should we test?
The law requires electrical equipment to be maintained, it does not set out intervals at which testing should be carried out. Different types of appliance may need testing more regularly than others, for instance handheld appliances such as hair clippers should be tested more regularly than say a computer. Our recommendation is that portable appliance testing is carried out on an annual basis, however it is for the
employer to decide upon the frequency of testing.

What service do we provide?
We will implement a register of all electrical appliances within your premises, this information will be held in a database that records the results of each appliance test. Each appliance is given a unique identification number and labelled accordingly. We test both class 1 and class 2 electrical items using dedicated portable appliance testing equipment. A detailed report of results for each test is provided. Our service includes the re-wiring of electrical plugs and replacement of incorrect fuses at no extra charge. To arrange your portable appliance testing contact our service department who will be pleased to assist you.
