Single Luminaire
Wall Mounted

If fixing to stud partition wall you
may need a load spreading wall plate or provide additional battening within the partition to provide sufficient support.

Electrical installation: Ceiling and Wall mounted versions should be hard wired into either your existing lighting circuit or alternatively a separate 6amp spur from the consumer unit. We recommend that this is carried out by a qualified electrician.

Mechanical installation: We recommend that ceiling mounted lights should be installed mounted to a steel fixing plate. A local structural steel fabricator will be able to manufacture this for you, alternatively we can provide this at additional cost. You will need to inform us of the size of the joists and their spacing. Before placing your order for the plate or light please seek the advice of a qualified structural engineer to ensure the suitability of the ceiling. The plate should be fitted by a reputable builder. We do not offer an installation service for ceiling plates.

Wall mounted lights - again, you should seek the advice of a structural engineer to ensure the suitablity of the wall before placing your order. We recommend that a steel spreader plate is fixed to the wall to distribute the load of the light over a greater area. This is particularly important if you are considering fixing to a block type wall or stud partition wall.

Brandon Range Lights

Size of lamphead = 550mm, Minimum Ceiling Height 2.1m, Weight 55Kg

Electrical installation. The light source is powered via a 24v step down transformer. It can be wired into your existing lighting circuit or via a 6 amp spur from the electrical fuse box (consumer unit). Your electrician should fit a class C microcircuit breaker (MCB) to the fuse box. Dual head lights will require a transformer per head if you want to have independant switching.

Mechanical Installation. In the majority of circumstances it will be necessary to purchase a ceiling plate to provide sufficient load spread. The plate is fixed in place across at least two ceiling joist using coachbolts. The ceiling rose of the light is then bolted onto the threaded studs on the ceiling plate. An optional anchor ring is available to compensate for sloping ceilings. Due to the mechanical forces involved we strongly recommend that you seek the advice of a structural engineer to confirm the suitablity of your ceiling. A universal ceiling plate is available at additional cost or alternatively a local structural steel fabricator should be able to produce a specific plate designed to suit your joist spacings.

We recommend for wall mounted units that a spreader plate is fitted to distribute the load over a greater area. We can provide a spreader plate at an additional cost or you may wish to have this made locally. Please seek the advice of a structural engineer to confirm the suitability of your wall before placing an order.
